Employee Spotlight: Meet Stephen Dewitte

At Beneva, we believe the beauty of our flowers is only matched by the people who help bring them to life. While stunning arrangements may be what you see, there’s a dedicated team behind the scenes making it all happen with early mornings, creative minds, and a whole lot of heart. Get to know a little more about the people behind the petals and what makes our Beneva family so special.

This month, we’re excited to shine the spotlight on one of the amazing individuals who always goes the extra mile: Delivery Driver Stephen Dewitte.

What is your role at Beneva, and what is your favorite part of the job?

Driver mostly. But I’ll help anywhere any way I can. The reactions I get at the door from people when they receive the beautiful arrangements that our Beneva artists create is what I enjoy most.

How did you get started in the floral industry?

I had a friend here who was driving also and she asked me if I’d help out at Christmas as a temp! That way I could learn my way around Sarasota and the surrounding areas. Win Win!

If you could design a bouquet to match your personality, what would be in it?

A Deluxe garden basket with some gerberas and some pink anthuriums!

What’s one thing about working in a flower shop that people might be surprised to learn?

With this being the internet age I think that they would be surprised and disappointed that they can’t send their sister in Minnesota a Deluxe birds of paradise arrangement.

What’s your favorite local spot to grab lunch or coffee on a break?

My wife and I are partial to Gilligan’s on Siesta Key for the wings and the music.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?

Holland. Belgium. Ireland for the tulips, the waffles and the four leaf clovers. I must live in a field of the clovers as I am truly Blessed by and with the people I have in my life currently!

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received (floral or otherwise)?

Don’t be in a hurry to get to tomorrow it will be here soon enough! Enjoy and create a better today!
