SARASOTA, December 15, 2010 – Beneva partnered with Wilkinson Elementary School, Hungry Howie’s and Stardust Skate Center to help spread some holiday cheer with a holiday coloring contest. Students in each classroom of every grade participated in coloring an artistic interpretation of the Spode Christmas Tree Bowl. Students were encouraged to use their creativity when coloring and the results were breathtaking.
Earlier in the week each teacher selected a finalist from their classroom. The finalist were each awarded a free admission pass from Stardust Skate Center for themselves and a friend. Arthur Conforti, President of Beneva and Leigh Michalojko, the Principal’s Assistant at Wilkinson Elementary had the difficult task in choosing a winner. All 32 of the finalists deserved the right to be chosen as a winner but one really stood out from the rest.
Betty Borjas of Mr. Harrison’s fifth grade class was chosen to be the grand prize winner based on her creative coloring and superior shading skills. When asked about the winning choice Arthur Conforti had the following to say, ” What really stood out to me was the shading on the bowl. She really captured the opal/pearl glisten of the actual Spode bowl.”
The grand prize winner Betty had won a Spode Christmas Tree Bowl designed with flowers from Beneva for her family and a kid’s gift basket for herself. Betty and her family were not the only winners as Betty’s entire class was awarded a pizza party for lunch courtesy of Hungry Howie’s.
Beneva and Wilkinson Elementary was proud of all the students that participated and look forward to partnering together again in the near future.
