Beneva Flowers owner David Shuel is proud to be a participant in the 2017 Real Men Wear Pink campaign.
Real Men Wear Pink was instituted in order to give men a unique opportunity to join the fight against breast cancer, a disease which often affects the women they love, respect and admire. With the exception of skin cancer, breast cancer is the most common cancer type in women, with over 316,000 new cases diagnosed annually.
Each year, local communities nominate prominent male business leaders to head up fundraising efforts for the American Cancer Society’s breast cancer initiatives. The issues at stake include promoting early detection and prevention, research funding, and patient support. Real Men Wear Pink relies on community leaders to raise awareness and money to fight breast cancer. Participants are asked to wear pink throughout the month of October, increase awareness through their personal and business social media networks, and raise a minimum of $2500.
David is not only the owner of Sarasota’s premiere florist, Beneva Flowers, but is a devoted family man. He is married to Shannon, and they have two children, David and Ella. David shares ” I am involved because I am excited to participate in a cause that has such a major impact on a horrendous disease. Every day, the American Cancer Society is funding groundbreaking research to find, prevent, and treat breast cancer, and are working to ensure access to mammograms for women who need them.” David is privileged to share this mission with contacts and resources developed over two decades in the wholesale industrial supply business, and now as a business leader in Sarasota.
